Company history
Richd. ANDERS Polska was established in 1994 as a continuation of the 135-year timber industry tradition passed down through the Anders family from generation to generation. Activity in the wood industry was initiated by Richard Anders (shown in the photograph next to this text), known as the East Prussian timber king, who launched his first sawmill in 1882 in the town of Ruciane in the Masurian Lake District (then East Prussia). Richard Anders equipped the plant with vertical saw frames powered by a locomobile (steam engine) and supplied it with timber floated directly to the sawmill through the system of Masurian canals and lakes.
The business and timber-working tradition of the Anders family, initiated by Richard, was cultivated and passed on together with specialist knowledge of wood processing by the following generations. Richard’s grandson, Ekkehard Anders, played a particularly important role in the history of Richd. ANDERS Polska. He was born in Masuria, in the town of Pisz, and spent his childhood in the family home located in Ruciane-Nida, where he lived and grew up until the outbreak of the Second World War. In the post-war period, he ran extensive business operations around the world together with his father, Georg. At the end of the 1990s, attractive investment opportunities appeared in Poland, which Ekkehard Anders decided to pursue. Initially, he became involved in several projects, but in the end he devoted himself entirely to the development of the production plant in Kańczuga.
Richd. ANDERS Polska was founded in 1994. In the first years of its operation, the company focused on the production of beech wood parquet as well as contract wood drying and steaming services. In 2006, the company expanded its offer to include the production of glued wood, which remains one of its specialisations to this day. At first, Richd. ANDERS Polska provided its services to joinery manufacturers, supplying them with pine products. In 2021, the company introduced additional wood species into production, namely oak and eucalyptus, which created new opportunities and made it possible to meet a wider range of customer needs. The current offer of the Richd. ANDERS Polska production plant includes traded goods in the quality expected by the contractor, but above all its own products made from pine, eucalyptus, and oak wood. These include glued panels, window and door scantlings, L- and T-shaped scantlings, pine pellets, mouldings, oak stair treads, and eucalyptus scantlings made from eucalyptus red grandis wood — a high-quality raw material sourced in Uruguay. The company obtains all raw materials used in the production of its products exclusively from certified forests and other responsible sources. The plant’s daily operations are guided by professionalism in the services provided and the use of the latest technologies.
In 2008, Ms Ewa Ciesielka joined the company and continues to serve as President of the Management Board to this day. The Richd. ANDERS Polska production plant currently employs as many as sixty qualified and experienced workers. They have completed thorough training, during which they acquired expert knowledge of wood processing that they later apply in practice. Since 2011, the company has been a member of the Polish Chamber of Commerce of the Wood Industry (PIGPD), based in Poznań.
